We present the cover's design and the inner pages layout for Omar Zakaria's first novel. The book is a fictional account of intellectual figures and events that took place in 1902 Egypt. Based on that context, we came up with the idea of using the old movable woodblock letter printing, to imitate the headlines production at the end of the 19th century in Egypt and the middle east. For the body text, we used Sakkal Kitab font, an award-winning typeface by Dr. Mamoun Sakkal, and for the quotes, we went for our very own ALAZAAT-Font: Kateba, an Arabic Typewriters font. Last but not least, we invited Jordanian artist Firas Majzoub to include few illustrations made by him to match some parts of the novel.
